Welcome to the Shindo Life Wiki. This is the Manual of Style, a general guideline to follow when creating or editing articles, made in order to standardize the wiki articles' content.

For policies dictating participation on the wiki, see our rules.

General

Editors should strive to abide by these guidelines:

  • Use proper grammar and spelling for any article directly related to the wiki.
  • Seek to write in an objective, passive voice when writing articles.
  • Create new pages as new content is added to Shindo Life.
    • Update pages as relevant to any updates to Shindo Life.
  • Remove and replace opinionated, biased, immature writing in wiki articles.
  • Assist staff in correcting vandalism.
    • Help replace incorrect information.
  • Avoid adding any information related to the Naruto series about an article outside of the Trivia section. If added, the information must be properly cited, either to the Naruto Wiki or Wikipedia or other reputable sources. While Shindo Life is a Naruto-based game, including terms directly used in Naruto that are not present in the game (Chakra, Tailed Beast, Susanoo, etc.) in sections other than the Trivia section is not permitted.
    • Citations should use the <ref> tag. At the bottom of the page, include </ references> to automatically add a list of all used references on the article page.
When in doubt, an editor should refer back to the English Wikipedia's Manual of Style or the Simplified version.

Wording and Grammar

To deliver a consistent experience throughout the wiki, these set of guidelines have been created as a reference to write articles. Again, editors should strive to write in an objective, passive voice.

  • Editors must refer to readers in the third-person, such as "players" or "users". They should never write their articles in a first or second-person perspective ("you", "I", etc.).
    • First-person is a subjective way to write an article, and second-person is an informal way to write an article.
  • Editors should remain impersonal in their writing.
    • Avoid adding your own experiences with the topic and write down factual information instead.
  • Editors are to familiarize themselves with the use of the words "its" and "it's".
    • "Its" is correctly used as a possessive ("Due to its similarities yet higher damage compared to Ice.")
    • "It's" is a contraction meaning "it is" ("It's a direct upgrade to Shizen." ["It is a direct upgrade to Shizen."])
  • Editors should never use subjective statements, such as calling Bloodlines or abilities trash/terrible, or the best/strongest.
  • Editors should limit their use of gendered pronouns, and should use gender-neutral and third-person pronouns within their article. (They, them, their)
  • Editors should not add jokes or slangs into pages, such as "The move is slow as heck."
  • Editors should avoid using abbreviations, as readers may not be as well-versed in game terminology as an editor. (Instead of AoE, use Area-of-Effect)
  • Editors should avoid using the number font instead of the worded out number in articles for smaller numbers (24,000 is a large number, so it is acceptable, but "five" should be used instead of "5")
  • Editors should use commas to separate numbers instead of periods. Hundreds, thousands, and millions should be separated as such: 1,000,000

  • Icon images for article infoboxes must be high-quality, preferably taken directly from the Roblox Library instead of an in-game screenshot. The following are instructions for how to locate an icon image:
    1. When in game, open the Dev Console by pressing F9 on your keyboard or /console in chat
    2. Once it shows up, click the Memory Tab, scroll down and under PlaceMemory until you find GraphicsTexture, click it.
    3. You will see numerous links with random numbers at the end (Higher number is newer decals, while lower number is old decals).
    4. Copy the numbers only and put them into this URL: roblox.com/library/ and place the numbers at the end.
    5. Put that URL into your browser and search it and a decal will show up.
  • When uploading images, please use a descriptive file name. Name the files after what the content is.
  • Images uploaded to be used on a page should be your own image or have explicit, provable proof from the owner. All contributions are considered to be released under the CC-BY-SA license unless otherwise specified. Please, properly license images you upload.
